Artist Skills & Service Coverage

Your service types are one shared list for the Cloud. An artist’s skills choose which of those services they perform and hold any settings that differ for that person. Set up skills under Artists & Team Members → Artist setup → Services & booking. The Artist role gives a provider access to manage their own work based on those skills; an artist seat makes them available to perform services.

Choose the services they perform

Select Add services on the person’s Artist setup page. Skills can cover a whole discipline, such as Piercing or Tattoo, or individual service types. A discipline-wide skill includes services across its catalog folders, such as Ear and Facial under Piercing.

• All services covers every service in the discipline, including services you add later. Choose this only when the person performs the whole discipline.
• All except… covers the discipline except the services you select.
• Specific services only covers just the services you select.

The last two choices do not pick up services added to the discipline later. Add each new service to the person’s skills if they perform it. If nobody at a studio offers a service, change the type’s availability by studio. If a service is no longer offered anywhere, remove it from the catalog when its history permits deletion.

For example, keep one Tattoo service type for both Victoria and Johnny. Give each artist a skill for Tattoo, then set their own pricing and booking options. Creating Tattoo - Victoria and Tattoo - Johnny types or artist-named categories would make separate catalog entries for the same work. When someone performs only part of a category

A category skill covers every service in its discipline. To narrow a person’s coverage, remove the category skill under Artist setup. If individual service overrides remain, use Remove all skills before choosing new coverage so those rows do not limit the new selection. Select Add services, then All except… or Specific services only.

Override specific services changes the settings for one service while keeping the person’s category coverage. Use coverage instead when they should no longer be offered as a provider for that service. Skills determine which providers REV23 offers during Kiosk check-in, online booking, and service assignment.

Set prices for this artist

The artist’s skill can use quote, quantity, or time-based pricing. One artist might quote Tattoo sessions individually while another uses an hourly rate, without creating two Tattoo types. Pricing set on a skill follows the artist to every studio where they perform that service.

For a service, REV23 looks for a price in this order: the artist’s service-specific skill, their category skill, the studio’s price for the service, then the service type’s default. A price set at one level replaces the broader price configuration, including its quantity tiers. Leave the skill’s pricing unset to inherit the next available level. Tax treatment and jewelry pricing stay with the service or studio; they are not artist overrides.

Set booking for this artist

On each skill, choose Not bookable online, Consultation first, Request to book, or Book without review. You can also set appointment length, time for another of the same service, maximum quantity, time between appointments, slot increment, deposit, minimum notice, and how far ahead customers can book. Blank fields inherit the service defaults; the booking window also checks the artist’s defaults before the service and studio defaults.

Use a service-specific override when one of the artist’s services needs different pricing or booking settings from the rest of the category. Artist-wide choices, including consultation settings and whether public pages show prices, are set once for the person. Pay and licenses

A skill can carry the artist’s commission rule: a percentage of the subtotal or a flat amount per service, with an optional sliding scale. Only the owner sets pay. A skill without its own rule follows the pay cascade; see Compensation.

Each skill can also carry a health-department license number and expiration. A service override without its own license uses the category skill’s license, then the person’s default license, then the studio’s. License numbers print on generated release form PDFs. Artists can maintain their own default and skill licenses from My Skills.

Removing a skill

Removing a skill stops the person from being offered as a provider for that work. Existing services and bookings keep their records. Artist access derived from the skill changes within about 15 minutes when the app refreshes the person’s session. Removing the last skill does not free their seat; remove the seat separately if they are done providing services.
