Jewelry Tiers

A jewelry tier adds a named amount to a session’s service price. Jewelry included in tier price decides whether that amount covers installed jewelry or adds to each piece’s price. See Jewelry Pricing for choosing a model.

Manage tiers under Settings → Services → Jewelry Pricing Tiers. Every Studio in the Cloud shares the list.

Create a tier

Set the tier’s fields:

• Name identifies the tier on sessions and receipts. It must be unique in the Cloud. A tier that charges or covers jewelry prints as “with {name}”; a tier used only as a catalog tag stays off receipts.
• Default upcharge is the amount added per session quantity. Leave it blank for a catalog tag that adds no price; inclusion is a separate setting.
• Jewelry included in tier price controls coverage as described below.
• Apply by default applies the tier when a new piercing or adornment session is created, if the service offers it. Only one tier can be the default. You can change or clear the tier on the session.
• Active keeps the tier available for pricing and sessions. Turn it off to retire the tier while preserving history.

A tier used by catalog pieces or a service’s tier menu cannot be deleted. Deactivate it instead. Applied sessions keep the name, amount, and coverage frozen when the tier was chosen.

Separate vs Inclusive

With Jewelry included in tier price off, the tier is Separate. Its amount adds to the service fee, and each installed piece still bills its own price unless baseline coverage includes it.

For example, a $40 lobe fee with a $10 post and $30 disc end totals $80. A separate Upgrade tier at $30 makes the total $110. Tagging the disc end Upgrade does not replace its $30 price with the tier amount.

With Jewelry included in tier price on, the tier is Inclusive. Every jewelry entry on the session bills $0. An inclusive Standard tier at $0 keeps the $40 lobe total at $40; an inclusive Upgrade tier at $30 makes it $70, regardless of the recorded pieces’ retail prices.

Inclusive coverage applies to the whole session. It does not match individual jewelry entries to tier quantities. A post and removable end are two installation records for one piercing. If any applied tier is inclusive, every installed piece on that session is covered, even when other quantities have separate tiers.

What each service offers

On a service type’s pricing, choose Use all tiers, No tiers, or Customize. A custom menu offers selected tiers and can override each tier’s amount. No tiers removes tier choices; baseline coverage can still include marked pieces.

A Studio’s pricing override can change the tier menu and its amounts for that service. The menu can differ from the service type’s default without changing the base service price. See Service Types.

The default tier applies only if it survives that menu. A service using No tiers, or a custom menu without the default, starts with no tier applied.

On the session

Choose a tier in the session’s Tier setting. Selecting an applied tier again clears it. For a session quantity above one, Split across pieces assigns quantities to different tiers. The quantities refer to the service count, such as two lobe piercings, rather than the number of post and end records.

For two lobes at $40 each, allocate one to inclusive Standard at $0 and one to inclusive Upgrade at $30. The service total is $110: $80 for the two piercings plus $30 for the upgrade. Record both posts and both ends; inclusive coverage keeps those jewelry lines at $0.

Unallocated service quantities get no tier upcharge. They still belong to the session, so any inclusive tier on that session covers their recorded jewelry too.

When recording jewelry, the catalog picker can filter to the applied tiers’ tags. Show all searches the rest of the catalog. Picking a differently tagged piece does not change the session’s tier or coverage. See Recording a piece.

Tier amounts and coverage are frozen when applied. A completed or refunded sale locks tier changes while it remains linked to the session. A closed pay period or payout can also lock the session’s commission. See Services & Sessions.

Where the money shows up

Tier amounts are part of the service line and its commission calculation. Receipts include the tier name and charge with the service. Revenue and Close of Day keep the charges in Services and disclose inclusive-tier charges separately as a reference amount; do not add that reference amount to the total again.

Covered jewelry remains recorded on the session. On completed sales, its frozen catalog value appears in the Sales Tax report’s jewelry disclosure as Covered by tier. Moving a catalog end, changing a tag, or editing a tier later does not rewrite those sale records.

Permissions

Managing tiers takes both Jewelry → Manage and Pricing Settings → Manage. Applying a tier takes access to edit the session. See Roles & Permissions.
