Terminology
Below is some common terminology we use throughout these docs as well as terms you may hear from support. While you don’t need to memorize this list, it is useful to have a common language.
Cloud Studio (also called Tenant): Your private REV23 Cloud environment — your database, file storage, and subdomain (e.g. scrantontattoo.rev23.com). Think of it as your studio’s private workspace in the cloud.
Studio: A physical location where you provide services. Every Cloud Studio starts with one studio. If you have multiple locations, you can add additional studios within the same Cloud Studio to share customers, templates, and settings across them. Alternatively, you can create separate Cloud Studios to keep locations completely independent. See Studios for more.
User: A person with access to your REV23 Cloud (including yourself). User accounts can represent service providers (tattoo artists, piercers), managers, counter staff, etc.
Customer: The person receiving services — being tattooed, pierced, receiving permanent makeup, etc. We use “Customer” instead of “Client” to avoid confusion with technical terminology used elsewhere in the platform.
REV23 Account: Similar to a Microsoft, Google, or Apple account — your single sign-on identity for all REV23 apps and services. The subscription owner logs in with their REV23 Account and can switch between Cloud Studios without re-entering credentials. See REV23 Account.
Studio Account: A username and password stored directly in your Cloud Studio. Staff who are not the subscription owner typically log in with a Studio Account using your studio’s address (e.g. scrantontattoo.rev23.com) and their username. Studio Accounts use a username (e.g. michael, mscott) while REV23 Accounts use an email address.
Service: A project containing one or more sessions, tied to a single customer and provider. A service might be a single-day tattoo, a multi-session back piece, or a set of piercings done in one sitting. See Services.
Session: A single procedure within a service. Each session tracks the details of the work — placement, description, price, supplies used — and contains the signed release form. See Sessions.
